Lucy ~ A regular exercise program had never been part of my lifestyle. When I decided to improve my health and the quality of life the staff at Horizon really took the time to get to know me. They tailored workout programs that made me feel good about my incremental improvements. I looked forward to my scheduled workouts. Joanne S. ~ In September 2007 I had a bone density test done & the results showed the early stages of Osteoporosis. I had thought of signing on to work with a trainer but this was the motivation to make me take that step. I started training at Horizons within two weeks of getting my bone density results. I added calcium with vitamin D to my program but no other medication. In July, 2009 (22 months after my first test) I had another bone density test done and I am thrilled with the results! I have completely reversed any signs of bone loss. My doctor was totally amazed and firmly believes it is due largely to my training program THANK YOU HORIZONS!!!!!!! I now enjoy a healthier life style, more daily activity& have loss 20 pounds. I feel 30 years younger.

Katie M. ~ Three years of health issues and a weight gain of forty pounds brought me to the door of Horizon Health & Fitness after reading an article for the local paper. I was convinced I would never lose the weight and very depressed about it. Mike started me out by working on my fitness level and we gradually moved to discussions about food. Robin pitched right in and got me moving and involved in new activities and classes. Within a month I had more energy and was sleeping better at night.

About that time, I introduced by teenage son, Matt, to Horizon. I have watched in amazement as he lost over 40 pounds and gained much needed confidence. His self esteem has soared and we now enjoy competing with each other as we set new fitness goals.

Mike and Robin are now a big part of our lives. They cheer us on as we try rock climbing, running, yoga and pilates. They console us if we take a step backwards and show us how to correct it and get back on track. But best of all, they are our friends and we look forward to visiting them twice a week.

Harriet T. ~ I've been working out with Mike at Horizon Health and Fitness for over 4 years. I was active in sports in high school, then spent my 20's, 30's and half my 40's not working out at all. I could always find a reason to not work out. I was that client that gyms loved - I'd sign up for 2 years and go about 10 times, then keep paying without going. Having a trainer helped me finally make that mental jump to thinking that working out was something I wanted to do. I love having strength, and I love having definition. It never occurred to me that I would some day admire my own shoulders in a window reflection.

On most days that I work out, these are the great results that keep me coming. But that isn't the reason I love having a trainer. You know those days when you just really don't feel like doing anything? Maybe you're tired, or had a bad day at work, or some body part has decided to start complaining. Those are the days that my trainer is the reason I show up. He can immediately adjust my workout. Maybe we just use lighter weights, maybe we do more balance work and less strength work. But when I leave, I always feel better for showing up. Having a trainer on the days I feel great is wonderful. But the real value of my trainer is that he knows how to keep me going on the bad days. Maybe I don't accomplish any "personal bests" on those days, but the fact that I was there, keeping the commitment to my body and my health is worth more to me than I can say.

Nora W. ~ I came to Horizon Health and Fitness for rehab after a shoulder injury. I am very pleased with the personalized services offered. My trainer listened to my goals and gave meticulous attention to the rehab needs dictated by the injury. She is a mix of someone willing to push me to meet my goals, yet cautious and careful to protect and prevent re-injury. I'm making great progress thanks to her rehab plan!

Mary V. ~ One of my main reasons for enjoying my sessions at Horizon health & Fitness is because of my personal trainer, Robin. She is knowledgeable, personable, and fun to have as my trainer. She is always aware of my limits, yet she knows when it's appropriate to encourage me to go for one more. Becca is so energetic that it rubs off onto you when you are working out with her. She makes my workouts fun and interesting because we are always doing something new, so they go by fast.

Becca with her energy just makes me work out so much harder then if I was trying to do it myself. Which I love her for because it allows me to keep up with my three-year-old who I think has just as much energy as Becca. I always look forward to my next workout with Becca when I leave Horizon Health & Fitness.

I have tried working out at other big gyms but for me they were not what I needed. I never knew if I was doing anything correctly and you could never find anyone to ask for help. At Horizon Health & Fitness I know I am doing the exercise correctly and if I have any questions they take the time to answer them for me and to make sure I understand everything.

Everyone at Horizon Health & Fitness is friendly and I recommend them to everyone I know.

Rachel R. ~ I started working with Mike right after I got engaged. I had one year until my wedding date, and I wanted to look and feel my best! We began training twice a week. The first few months were tough, but soon I began seeing the results of all the hard work, which kept me going. Mike is an excellent motivator, and even if I'm tired, or not in the mood to work out, I always look forward to our training sessions. He constantly sets mini-goals for me, which keep me focused in the short-term, as I continue to lose weight, get stronger, and feel better. He has great advice on nutrition as well, and he has completely changed the way I eat, which combined with the strength training, has led to a weight loss of 30 pounds (so far). After years of dieting and working out on my own, it is such a relief to finally be on the right track. The personal training sessions are an investment that I will never regret.

Denny C.~ As a young man I was never an athlete and didn't participate in organized sports. As an adult I realized health and fitness are synonymous with a long and happy life. I "worked out", ran and biked and didn't think I needed anything else. However, as time went on I ran less and decided it would be wise to buy the 40# bags of salt.

When I first tried Horizon Health and Fitness I thought I was in pretty good shape. It soon became clear I had a lot of work to do if I wanted to be truly fit and achieve my goal of not becoming a sick old man. I became engaged with resistance training and began to notice a significant increase in my upper body strength. It is now easier to carry suitcases, groceries, etc. But I still buy 40# bags of salt.

I have been working out with Mike Lohre now for over 3 years and continue to see the benefits of his training regimen. I am noticeably stronger, have better balance and feel terrific. I know anyone who will take the time and make the effort to become more fit will reap benefits far beyond any expectations. I did!!!
